Neurotechnologija partner with Lenovo Group to Deliver Facial Recognition Software Suite for User Authentication

Vilnius, Lithuania, February 2, 2006. Neurotechnologija, a leading provider of core biometric algorithms, announced today that its VeriLook facial recognition engine was chosen by Lenovo, a global leader in the Personal Computer industry to develop a software suite for PC user authentication.

Using the current and integrated hardware such as a web camera or camera on PC, it's easy and convenient to deploy facial recognition technology cost-effectively.

Lenovo is the number one PC company in China and one of the top three PC companies in the world after it has acquired the IBM's Personal Computing Division in early 2005. Lenovo has long been interested in biometric technologies as a dimension for its product innovation. The cooperation with Neurotechnologija on a facial recognition technology is one of its innovation drives in using biometrics. The technology will be applied to Lenovo's (Tianyi/Xuri/Zhaoyang) notebooks in China.

Ming Zhiming, the project manager of Lenovo R&D, commented, "We are happy with the Neurotechnogija's VeriLook algorithm as it is highly applicable to our PC and can satisfy our user needs. Our strategy has been to add more values to our products and help our customers to be more competitive in the market, that's why we are so interested in adopting biometric technologies."

Dr. Algimantas Malickas, Director and CEO of the Neurotechnologija, said, "We believe it's just a beginning that our good performance products are to be adopted by more and more PC producers. And loading on to the PC platform, our technologies will approach hundreds and thousands of users, bring them more security and convenience. We are very happy to work with Lenovo on this in China."

Lenovo will soon release the software suite based on VeriLook algorithm and install on their high end models of laptop which has camera as standard hardware configuration. It will be a strong push to the promotion and popularization of the facial recognition technology.

About Neurotechnologija

Neurotechnologija was founded in 1990 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The main area of company's activity is biometric person identification algorithms and software development. In 1991 the first fingerprint identification system was developed. Since that time Neurotechnologija has released more than 30 products and version upgrades for biometrics and law enforcement. Neurotechnologija's fingerprint identification algorithm has participated in several competitions (FVC2000, FVC2002, FVC2004, FpVTE 2003, NIST Fingerprint SDK Testing) and shown one of the best results there.

The main products of Neurotechnologija are intended for security companies which are going to integrate fingerprint and face identification technology into their own products. Currently more than 800 security system integrators (including a number of basic fingerprint sensors providers) are using company products in more than 60 countries.
