Slap Verification SDK
Biometric identity authentication for secure mobile and web applications
Neurotechnology Slap Verification SDK is designed for integration of contactless fingerprint-based authentication into enterprise and consumer applications for mobile devices and PCs. The simple API helps to implement solutions like digital onboarding, payment, e-services and all other applications that need enhanced security through biometric contacless fingerprint recognition. The library size for the devices is small and it is inclusive of all functionalities, allowing to perform offline authentication. The system is based on the NIST-proven VeriFinger technology and our proprietary, contactless fingerprint capture algorithm.
Available on Android and iOS platforms.
Key Features and Capabilities
- Registration and authentication. A biometric engine is used to register a person with their fingerprints and later authenticate the person.
- Contactless capture with smartphone. The engine allows to obtain person's fingerprints from a four-finger slap image captured with a regular smartphone.
- Recognition reliability. The captured slap image is processed to obtain separate fingerprints, create biometric templates and compare them using our proprietary technology based on our experience of creating NIST-proven fingerprint recognition algorithms.
- Mobile device SDK. The SDK component features a compact library to develop native, stand-alone apps for mobile devices.
- Security and privacy. Depending on the implementation, upper-palm images and biometric templates can be stored and used on the end-user device, server, or both, and are required only for template creation, after which they can be discarded.
- Developer-friendly. Simple and comprehensive API provides operations for enrolling, verification and quality check. Programming samples in multiple languages are available.
- Use-based licensing. The licensing model is based on the actual use of the system with only successful operations counted.
Applications
Neurotechnology Slap Verification SDK is intended for developing end-user mobile and web applications which perform identity verification on personal devices (smartphones, tablets) in systems like:
- digital onboarding;
- online banking;
- payments;
- shops self-checkout;
- government e-services;
- social networks and media sharing services.
Functionalities
Person Registration
A four-finger slap image is captured via smartphone camera for fingerprint extraction and biometric template creation, which is then used for identity verification. Fingerprint segmentation, which separates single fingerprint images from the four-finger slap image, is performed during this operation. Encrypted data provided upon successful enrollment.
Optionally, Image quality assessment can be performed during the capture:
For privacy considerations the biometric data can be kept on the end-user device without any exposure.
Identity Verification
Fingerprints from the four-finger slap captured through a smartphone camera are verified against the fingerprint templates which was created during the person registration. Fingerprint segmentation, which separates single fingerprint images from the four-finger slap image, is performed during this operation.
Optionally, Image quality assessment can be performed during the capture:
For privacy considerations the biometric data can be kept on the end-user device without any exposure.
Advanced Image Processing
Slap Verification SDK allows to perform advanced processing of a provided four-finger slap image with these results:
- Image quality is evaluated. The obtained value can be used for rejecting the provided image.
- Images of single fingerprints are separated from the provided four-finger slap image. The fingers are provided in binarized and original form.
- Positions of the segmented single fingerprints are evaluated. Values, like "left index" or "right middle" are provided
The output of the four-finger slap image processing can be sent to a third-party AFIS and/or used by a human expert. For example, a law enforcement officer captures suspect's slap in the field wth a phone and sends the processed results for further identification.
